Tui Na is the external method of treatment within the realm of Chinese medicine. “Tui” is to push. “Na” is to lift and squeeze. This is the Chinese version of body work often used with acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping therapy. Treatment can be firm or gentle. Techniques consist of brushing, kneading, rolling, pressing, and rubbing. Tui Na helps in both acute and chronic muscular pain conditions and is used in hospitals across China as a standard aspect of treatment. It is effective for pain conditions such as; arthritis, sciatica, constipation, headaches. It is also used to prevent problems as well as correct issues. This work is similar to the work of chiropractors, osteopaths, massage therapy and some forms of physical therapies.
